UK Government Sets 2029 Cladding Deadline with Key Contributions from A S Ramsay Group

19/12/2024

The UK government has announced a 2029 deadline for remediating unsafe cladding, introducing the Remediation Acceleration Plan (RAP) to speed up progress. This initiative addresses longstanding concerns about the slow pace of cladding replacement. A S Ramsay Group has expressed confidence that its expertise in cladding remediation will enable them to play a significant role in meeting this critical deadline. With a proven track record in high-quality remediation, the company is well-positioned to make a significant contribution to this project.

Under the plan, all high-rise buildings over 18 metres with unsafe cladding, funded through government schemes, must be remediated by the end of 2029. For medium-rise buildings (11-18 metres), remediation work must either be completed, scheduled, or face penalties for non-compliance by the same deadline. These measures reflect the government’s commitment to addressing the backlog of unsafe buildings while protecting affected residents.

The government is tackling barriers such as reluctant landlords, limited regulatory capacity, and funding challenges faced by social housing providers. To support the plan, increased funding for enforcement will enable local authorities, fire services, and the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) to resolve hundreds of cases annually.

A S Ramsay Group are playing a pivotal role in these efforts across London and the South East. The company offers services including budget advice, compliant cladding system design and installation, backed by £10 million in professional indemnity insurance covering cladding design.

A S Ramsay Group is a leading cladding remediation expert in London and the South East.

Jamie Godman, Managing Director of A S Ramsay Group, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting the new targets, ‘We are committed to making an impact on the new remediation target. Our experience in cladding remediation means we are well-positioned to contribute successfully to making buildings across London and the South East safe.’

The RAP represents a significant step forward in addressing the legacy of unsafe cladding, ensuring that residents no longer face the risks and uncertainties they have endured for years. A S Ramsay Group are proud to play a part in remediating large numbers of unsafe buildings across London and the South East.
