  • A S Ramsay FIRE AND SECURITY – Fire door installation and maintenance; accredited fire separation work; and access control and fire detection.

Job purpose:

The Technical Manager role is focused on ensuring that our operatives are undertaking our work on site in line with our procedures, the building regulations, specification, and current industry standards.  This involves undertaking survey work in order to identify defects, be able to produce detailed materials lists, and be able to prepare for works pre-contract.  It also involves meeting our site teams and clients on site in order to set up, monitor and manage projects through to completion, as well as ensuring that we are recording all of the necessary items from site for both Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Purposes.

Main duties:

  • CONTRACT MANAGEMENT: Manage the Site Managers generally and support them to deliver the project to meet the Clients expectations.

  • CONTRACT MANAGEMENT: Oversee and ensure the project is compliant with its contractual liabilities.

  • CONTRACT MANAGEMENT: Maintain strong, proactive relationships with our clients and their agents in line with the Companies Vision, Mission and Culture.

  • CONTRACT MANAGEMENT: Assess compliance with specification and identify, quantify and schedule variations for submission to the Employer or Employers Agent.

  • CONTRACT MANAGEMENT: Support the Site Managers to seek out opportunities to improve the gross margins on site.

  • PROJECT FINANCES: Prepare sub-contracts and orders for accounts to issue.

  • PROJECT FINANCES: Value sub-contractor works and submit to Production Director for approval.

  • TECHNICAL: Provide technical support to site managers generally and be responsible for ensuring our installations are compliant with the Building Regulations, B M Trada and the Specification.

  • TECHNICAL: Undertake onsite training on technical matters and train staff regularly.

  • TECHNICAL: Undertake detailed surveys and thereafter produce professional reports for submission to our clients.

  • TENDERING: Support the Estimators with new tenders if required, creating and producing clear and detailed winning bid packages.

Person Specification:

  • A minimum of 2 years working in a fire stopping or fire door installation environment with knowledge of B M Trada regulations and Approved Document B.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for relationship building.

  • Clear and precise written communication and attention to detail with administrative tasks.

  • Sound knowledge of building technology with the ability to read and interpret different specifications.

  • Proactive and clear approach to problem solving.

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, multitask and adapt to specific needs of the business.

  • Drive to succeed with a modern growing Company.
