The Challenge

To install 65 FD30 Fire doors to student accommodation and repair 600 fire doors over three campuses.
Minimising disruption to the students and working in live areas.
Working over the Christmas period to ensure all Fire doors are installed before students return.
Managing a site with a high level of traffic and tight entrances in a safe way.
Liaison with staff and students to have access to bedrooms and classrooms.

What We Did

Removed 65 non-compliant student accommodation front entrance doors and installed 65 BM TRADA Q marked FD3OS door sets.
To accommodate the new fire doors it was necessary to rebuild entrances to doors including plastering and full decoration.
Carried out a full fire door survey of several doors around the campus in line with current FRA.
Carried out BM TRADA approved fire door repair techniques to all non-compliant doors.

Why Was It A Success

We successfully replaced 65 fire doors over the short Christmas holiday period as requested.
The project was delivered on time and within line with our programme.
We were able to successfully deliver the project under budget due to alternative methods of installation.
Minimal disruption was caused to the students and residents of the university.
